Curmudgeon Alert!!
The Weenie-ization of America continues. This high school's 41 -- 41!!! -- valedictorians can put their diplomas next to the trophies they received simply for showing up to their baseball or soccer games. This school is not doing these kids any favors, starting with a grading system that gives so many of them straight As.

Not to mention the grade inflation - many students have GPAs over 4.0 since there's all kinds of extra credit that seems to be available - and the fact that, apparently, if you do well enough in some schools, during the course of the term, you don't even need to take final exams. Now there's preparation for college; not to mention for life. Not only is this all just silly, it's doing students no favors.

Is that school Parkland, which has been named Burger King High School (have it your way) by outsiders? I am currently ranked 106th in my class with a GPA somewhere between 4.1 and 4.2. I have gotten exactly one "B" on a report card in high school and also taken exactly zero final exams. From what I've heard there are currently 3 kids that sit atop the class with a "perfect" 5.0 GPA. That means that these kids are taking honors electives. Which is what? Advanced Home Ec? Certainly not honors Phys Ed as those kids wouldn't last a day. The grading system in my school and it seems other school has become ridiculously inflated. I can only imagine that there are close to 150 kids in my class with a GPA of 4.0 or better. Can't wait until we're all named valedictorians.
