And So This Is Christmas
And the angel said to them, "Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the City of David a savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among all people."

Merry Christmas to all.

For some reason, I keep coming back to this entry. This is particularly interesting, since I do not share the religious tradition from which this verse comes. It's the peaceful hopefulness that draws me back. Funny (not funny ha ha), how people seem to turn away from the peaceful hopefulness of the true meaning of Christmas, in favor of the more stressful, more commercial options offered by secular life (or is it big business?).
And from there, again, choose, instead of the reflective opportunities offered by the change in the calendar, the frenetic, boisterous New Year's Eve drunken fete.
When I think about these little realities and what they might mean, it scares me. Maybe that's why I keep coming back to this entry.
